The Large-Scale Experiment
The Experiment: A large-scale experiment led by Dr. Robert Lanza, focusing on the theory of Biocentrism.
The Missing Persons: These individuals are academics and non-believers in the supernatural and have been disappearing from a specific geographic area. This area forms a ring, approximately 100-110 miles in diameter, centered around Rocky Point Haunted House.
Rocky Point Haunted House
A Hub of Activity: The center of the experiment is the isolated Rocky Point Haunted House, located in a sparsely populated area.
Three Key Groups:
Actors: Individuals with a belief in the supernatural, playing the roles of monsters and villains.
Scientists: Researchers with a belief in the supernatural, conducting experiments within their respective fields.
Paranormal Gifted: Individuals with strong occult beliefs are being studied for their supernatural abilities.
Additional Information for Players
The Experiment's Goal: To induce supernatural phenomena by manipulating the beliefs and perceptions of the subjects.
Potential Dangers: While Dr. Lanza may have good intentions, the experiment could have unintended consequences, potentially leading to dangerous situations.
The Role of Belief: The experiment seems to hinge on the power of belief. Those who doubt the supernatural have been excluded from the experiment as much as possible.
Collective Effort: No single individual could have abducted all the missing persons.
Question of Belief: The experiment's focus is on belief, but none of the player’s own beliefs were asked.
Abby believes the doctor is trying to create a Tulpa.
A Tulpa is a creature created by a concentrated collective belief by a large number of people. (Even a single, dedicated believer could potentially create a Tulpa over time.)
This concept has roots in Tibetan Buddhism, where it refers to a mind-made body created through intense meditation. While Tulpas in Supernatural often (note: not always) manifest as monstrous or terrifying figures, the underlying idea is the power of thought to create tangible reality.
