What do you do when you are trapped in a room with locked doors? Hack it of course! Well, that is what you would do if it was a normal room on a normal planet. Things didn't go quite as smoothly as anticipated, given this was a room created by a mad genius who is quite possibly the greatest coder the universe has seen next to Triune.
Joy got a tsking finger when attempting to hack through the doors. The room started to fill up with water and for once Benny was of no help. We all have our off days. Chanty gave us the insight to use Amelia's full name as the password to override the system. Thank goodness for narcissism.
Aboard the Invictus, Ash was coming to after being chloroformed by her mother. Needless to say, Ash wasn't too happy about that. You just don't do that to a person, especially your own flesh and blood.
The rest of the crew, along with the simulation of Ash's dad went to investigate the biological version of Dr. Seraphine. We discovered that Amelia had falsified the medical records and nothing was wrong with Ash's Dad except for the minor detail that he had lobotomized. Joy was in the process of trying to figure out how to separate the simulation dad from N.I.K.K. when the forcefields went down around the compound.
On the Invictus, Amelia tried to convince Ash that all was well. She had hacked into the Android side of Ash's brain and created a false reality. She had the entire crew of the Invictus reboard and greet Ash. The problem was that Ash didn't believe for a moment that her crewmates would so readily accept Amelia into their midst and was able to break through the mind hack. Amelia, tired of negotiating with her daughter, instead dropped the forcefields back planet side and gave Ash an ultimatum. Either join her and save her friends, or let them succumb to the hostilities of the planetoid.
With the shields down, the crew had to barricade themselves in a tower to avoid the onslaught of the natives. Chanty was convinced she could establish a line of communication with these creatures and prevent any loss of life. However, Tybar and N.I.K.K. were in full-on protection mode, shoot first, ask questions later.
Joy and Benny had sent the others to the tower, while the two of them attempted to get the shields back online. Joy couldn't get the shields stable. They kept flashing on and off, almost like someone had remote access to the system and every time Joy turned it on, they would turn it off. Meanwhile, a creature tried to break into the control room with Benny and Joy in it. Joy, much like Chanty, figured this was all a big misunderstanding and offered the creature a cookie, thinking maybe, just maybe it was hangry. It was at least angry, so the cookie dropped to the ground, but the creature was slaughtered by an unseen force. Zen's mom, who showed herself once the creature was dispatched. Joy greeted Mrs. Z like it was an expected arrival.
Back at the tower, one of the creatures became entangled in a sticky mess and wasn't able to advance. On the other side of the door, Tybar was barely holding it back with a bookcase, but Chanty wanted enough of the creature to get through so she could communicate with it by touch. She succeeded and saw images of Ash's mom torturing the poor, innocent creatures. A real breakthrough was about to happen, that is until N.I.K.K. threw himself out a window and onto the one trying to break in. Not many would listen to the voice of reason with a deranged android on their back.
Back on the Invictus, Vicky was able to download the Simulation version of Amelia into the android body. It was Bio Amelia vs Tech Amelia. Tech Amelia crushed the comm unit on Bio Ameila's wrist. Ash fell to the floor in pain, much of Vicky's processors had been used to block the pain from Ash's body. With Vicky engaged in the combat between mother and mother, Ash was experiencing what life would be like without Vicky there to protect her.
