The crew of the Invictus was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relive a mission they utterly failed. This time around, we had help from Callisto from the get go. First stop, the armory. We needed weapons that match the power and force of the security team onsite.
N.I.K.K. was deemed a faulty android and was taken to the scrap room, which was just a cover story to get him and Benny into a position to search the grounds.
Back in the throne room, we took out Sarris before the test demonstration so he wouldn't be on alert. Chanterelle release some spores that made him incredibly ill, the type that makes you leave one throne for another.
Ash feints a headache so she doesn't have to piolet the shuttle to the testing site. Zen and T-bone volunteer to load the test subjects onto the shuttle, giving them cover to switch out Melina for another subject. Meanwhile, Joy hacks into the throne server and takes control of the mech suit in the hidden room that our crew discovered last time. She sets a self-destruct sequence for 20 minutes.
At the test site, Dr. Lull goes ahead with the demonstration to the potential investors, even though his main subject has been removed. Dr. Lull tells the spectral assassin to kill Callisto. Callisto had enough time to give it other orders, but she still took a great deal of damage as the spectral passed partially through her. T-bone grabbed and tossed Callisto over his shoulder as he and Zen took Dr. Lull hostage and worked their way to the shuttle. The unknown woman helped them make their escape and joined them onboard. Benny laser blasts the remaining investors as he flies everyone back to the main building.
Back at base, N.I.K.K. delivers Melina to the Invictus and helps a team of workers load supplies into Vicky's hull. Joy contacts the starship Vigilance that had been orbiting the moon and hacks into its systems. She is going to have the ship blast key points of the testing facility so they can make an escape.
During the shuttle trip, Tybar strips Dr. Lull and goes to throw him into a lava pit as they pass by. As Tybar pulls him past, Zen cuts Dr. Lull's throat, and Benny shoots him with a pistol. They were making sure this man was quite dead.
Finally, everyone is in one location, but time has run out. The crew of the Invictus had to leave the facility empty-handed of the Bleeding Edge armor. There was just no time. The mech was about to destroy the Malice Engine and Vigilance was firing upon the moon. The lab, with all its secrets, was utterly destroyed.
Aboard the Invictus, the crew learns Vicky had not been idol while we were away. She had loaded her hull with much-needed supplies, including some boxes that contain a certain Bleeding Edge technology that literally saved the life of every crewmember. She also had a bar installed aboard for our mental well-being.
Though it should have been a time for celebration of a job well done (the second time around at least), things took a dark turn. Ash confronted Vicky about her past. Ash learned just how closely tied she was to the Invictus. She learned what had happened to her family, and why she, herself, was part machine. Ash got angry. She took it out on anyone who tried to comfort her. She turned off Vicky and lashed out at Tybar.
Join our next adventure to see how the crew reacts to this new knowledge and what we will do next.
