The mood aboard the Invictus was a mixture of grief, fear, and desperation. Ash had flown us headlong into a Drow ship. One that we could not disentangle ourselves from. Add to that the agonizing request from Enzo, Benny's uncle and executioner, to board our ship so Pam could properly say goodbye to her late, ex-husband. As we prepared to let Enzo board, Vicky informed us that there was a distress call from the Drow in the ship that was practically welded to our haul. And that the energy core on the Drow's ship was reaching critical mass. Joy quickly informed Enzo of the situation and to stand down until the Drow predicament could be addressed.
The Invictus could not shoot the Drow ship or blow it up without causing harm to Vicky's structure. The only solution was to send Ash, Goblina, and Tyrone out in heavy armor suits to manually cut the two ships apart and have the stranded Drow board the Invictus. Enemy or not, Joy couldn't just let the Drow die when she could do something to save them. They repaid her kindness by setting off their ship's self-destruct sequence. Luckily for everyone involved, Joy is a master hacker. The team was able to defeat the treacherous Drow and disengage their ship. Though the mental state of the docile, lovable Goblina has come into serious questioning. She threatened Ash because of her involvement in preventing Goblina from saving Tybar. And Goblina attacked the Drow with more vigor than anyone on the ship. Our little peace keeper, user of nonlethal means, is no more. Replaced by an angry, destructive creature with nothing left to live for. Joy promised to get everyone counseling once they all got out of this.
The Invictus crew begrudgingly let Enzo come aboard. He quickly explained how we forced his hand to publicly execute Benny. He then went on to explain to us how all high ranking family members of the mob had a genetic clone of their bodies made. Benny's body was destroyed, but Benny's mind was safe and we just needed to rescue his clone before the family destroyed that as well. The crew was shocked and grateful that they just didn't blow Enzo out of the sky. However, before we could count our blessing, Enzo informed us that this plan came at a steep cost. That is when Lilith boarded the Invictus as well. Our fallen crewmate Zen's mother, or at least the body of Lilith, not necessarily her mind. Lilith was furious at us. We blatantly disregarded her directive not to go to Absalom Station. Then once there, Chanty killed one of her operatives. I mean she had a point, we had kinda gotten into the habit of shoot first ask questions later. However, she would forgive us all for that minor infraction if we just did her this one, little, itsy-bitsy favor. Take her to the Void using the cursed Blink Drive and recover a military battleship that happened to be floating out there in the nothingness.
Without much of a choice since many more Drow ships were on their way to destroy us, the crew of the Invictus had to agree to this dismal plan, or sacrifice ourselves. None of us were ready to die. We started making preparations to leave this space and time. Lilith had obtained a look alike Invictus to be clown to smithereens. We just had to go aboard and leave our belongings, fingerprints, and our cloned bodies which Lilith just happened to of have. As we did, Goblina sat herself down on the decoy ship and informed everyone the clone was not needed. She was grieving and couldn't see a future without Tybar in it. Joy, not ready to loose yet another crewmate went and put her arm around Goblina. She explained that Goblina had become a valuable member of the crew and we loved and needed her. Goblina pushed back in anger and let us all know that none of us knew the real her. That all we knew was what she showed us. Joy scoffed. She informed Goblina that none of that mattered. None of us cared if her religion was a fraud. We truly cared for Goblina herself, not for what she stood for. Goblina's actions spoke volumes against her words. Joy had learned goblin just in order to speak with her. Tyrone expressed how he had gained a love of macaroni art because of her. Chanty removed her mushroom cap and handed it to Goblina and said, "This is how much I love you," for removing her cap would weaken Chanty for a time being, but showed Goblina that we would do whatever it would take to have her apart of the crew. With Goblina safely back aboard the real Invictus it was time for us to get the hell out of dodge before the Drow arrived. We engaged the blink drive and flew into the Void. As we did so, we saw versions of futures branching off in all sorts of directions, including a scene where we saw Tybar fighting off the Devourer, but losing the battle as he was slowly suffocating out in space. Join the crew of the Invictus next to see how they handle their current predicament.
