New Campaign! Salt, Bone, and Lantern Fire

"We had to eat whatever came to hand... To live, one must not be too proud."

Ernest Shackleton

We live in a sunlit world... But there is another.

One much older, and not as brightly lit.

A place of stone corridors, older than any map.

Most travelers descend into this deep looking for treasure. Some go looking for glory.

And some go because someone they loved stepped into the dark... and never stepped back.

Down there, food runs out. Torches sputter and die. Steel rusts and armor breaks.

Down there, survival is not a heroic feat. Survival is cruel.

You learn to eat what you can kill. You learn which bones can be boiled into broth, which monsters carry venom in their veins, and when fires should never be lit.

Every meal is a gamble. Every doorway is a question.

Step out of the sunlight, and into the dark.

Welcome to “Salt, Bone, and Lantern Fire”.

A new campaign of dungeon survival, and the terrible things we become... when the light starts to fade. DM Notes:

For our first session, we’ll do a Session 0 focused on character creation and campaign setup.

During this session, we’ll talk about the kinds of characters everyone wants to play and try to build a balanced party that works well together, both mechanically and story-wise.

Characters will begin at 15th level.

Your main motivation for entering the dungeon is poverty. Times are hard, jobs are scarce, and ordinary work is no longer enough to keep food on the table. The dungeon is dangerous, but it may be the only real chance you have to survive, make money, and change your fate.
