Where we last left off, the remaining crew of the Invictus was under hot pursuit by a Drow Battleship. Which seems to be par for the course, but the timing was awful. They needed to rescue Benny! The crew was already mourning the loss of Tybar; they couldn't loose Benny too!
Joy pleaded with Benny's Uncle Enzo to help them take a stand against the Drow. Joy didn't want to make the difficult decision between letting Benny be carried off into the unknown to face his demise, or to change course so the entire crew wouldn't be wiped out by the Drow Battleship. But Enzo would not be swayed and went radio silent. The Invictus had to figure out a way to track Benny so they could take a stand against the Drow in the here and now.
The crew did all they could to shake the Drow. We knew their ship was at full power just to catch up to us. It would only take one or two superb moves by Ash to be free and clear of danger. Under normal circumstances, she could have done this in her sleep, but these were not normal circumstances. Phase 1 we were able to shoot down a missel that had been launched at us. So far we were keeping up with Enzo and avoiding damage from the Drow. However, that abruptly came to an end. In a trick maneuver by Ash, we circled back on ourselves and crashed nose first into the Drow ship. We were sitting ducks. Not only would we loose Benny, but we were floating out in space for any of the other surrounding Drow ships to come exterminate us once and for all.
Joy beseeched Pam to talk to Enzo, maybe she could strike a cord with him and get us help. Pam appealed to Enzo's humanity. That they had spent summers together. That out of all of Benny's family, Enzo was the only one Pam was allowed to meet, that had to mean something! It worked! Well, we thought it had worked. Enzo got on an all systems broadcast, including all the outlying Drow ships ready to attack. He announced who he was, and his connections to the Pirozzoli Family. He declared war on any Drow ship that attacked the Invictus. Not just a battle for today, but a galaxy wide confrontation that would wadge war against thousand of innocents. The Drow ships began to pull away and flee. It seemed like an miracle. The crew of the Invictus were saved and there was a chance we could claim our Benny back. However, Enzo wasn't done with his broadcast. He begged Pam to turn away, to stop watching the stream, for what happened next would haunt the crew of the Invictus for the rest of their lives. Enzo Pirozzoli raised a gun, as the screen panned out to show Benny on his knees in front of him. Next thing the crew heard was a shot, as blood splattered the screen and the broadcast ended.
Join as next time as we all consult on the type of counseling each of us will need after ending on that note. (PS, the Gamemaster was told he was sleeping in the doghouse that night for the trauma he just inflicted on his wife by shooting her favorite NPC.)
