"The world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players." - William Shakespeare
You are about to enter a shadow realm, just outside the eerie city of Nightarch, on the forsaken Drow world known as Apostae. Our intrepid adventurers stand before a chilling tableau - the lifeless body of Lord Zalazar Zeizerer, blood pooling at the feet of his ex-wife, Lilith Zeizerer.
What follows is a twist in the fabric of fate itself. Lilith, with cold determination, offers our protagonists a macabre proposition: become her pawns, her scapegoats, and in exchange - wealth beyond their wildest dreams. They will need to dance on the precipice of danger as they play the roles of murderers while she orchestrates a clandestine coup from the shadows.
Yet, dear travelers, the die is cast. For Lilith has woven a web of deceit, planting damning evidence that binds them to this unholy pact. A choice looms in this dark realm: embrace the treacherous path, face the relentless pursuit by Drow authorities, rival houses, bounty hunters, and assassins, or dare to defy the puppeteer's strings and carve their own destiny.
In the heart of this tempest, Lady Valeria Zeizerer emerges, a Drow noble of House Vexidyre. Is she savior or adversary? She claims to be a secret devotee of the god Desna*, and she dreams of reforming the corrupt Drow society and severing their unholy bonds to demon lords. Valeria glimpses the impending cataclysm, for she tells of Lilith's sinister designs and the true purpose of the stolen Bleeding Edge armor - a cosmic horror, awakening every 27 years to feast for 27 days, threatens to consume all.
Our adventurers stand at the crossroads of fate, trapped in a nightmarish labyrinth of intrigue and danger, where alliances shift like shadows and salvation may lie in the most unlikely of hands. Welcome to twilight on Apostae, where choice is a fantasy, for puppeteers pull strings, and destinies are carved with bloodied hands.
Clue: Beware the puppeteer, For the deadliest strings are the ones you can't see.
Desna*
Desna is an ancient goddess of freedom, luck, and opposes oppression. She battled the Rough Beast to protect Golarion. Desna is often depicted as a beautiful elven woman with butterfly wings. Desna communicates with her followers through dreams and symbols, favoring butterflies. Her followers include travelers, scouts, gamblers, and thieves. Temples to Desna are rare, and holy texts emphasize kindness. Important holidays include the Ritual of Stardust and the Swallowtail Festival.
