“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch without doing anything.” —Albert Einstein
In a distant corner of the universe, a team of scientists has made a discovery that could change the face of warfare forever. They have developed a device nicknamed "The Malice Engine". This machine rips a person's soul from its body and projects it anywhere, and at any distance. These unwilling people are kept in a comatose state, and the machine uses only the part of their soul where hate exists. These ethereal assassins are an unstoppable, unkillable, force of death, and capable of passing through any barrier.
The implications of this invention are terrifying. If the machine were ever to be put to use, the ship's AI has predicted it would inevitably end all life as we know it. And yet, despite the danger, there are those who seek to obtain it. Our adventurers have been hired to steal the machine, but they face a deadly dilemma. If they fail, they will be hunted by those who hired them, and want the machine for their own purposes. If they succeed, countless lives will be lost.
As they embark on the dangerous mission, the adventurers must navigate treacherous terrain and outsmart their enemies, if theyare to have any hope to succeed. But as they draw closer to their goal, they begin to realize the full scope of the danger they face. With the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, they must decide whether the cost of stealing the machine is worth the price they may have to pay. Listen carefully, brave adventurers, for what you do not yet know is that there are other players in this game, waiting in the shadows, watching your every move.
These individuals hold the power to either aid you in your quest or throw a wrench into your carefully laid plans. Will they be friend or foe?
The fate of so many rests on the decisions you make, and the alliances you forge, and which enemies you make. Only through your wits and your valor can you hope to emerge victorious.
